The primary consideration in a school closing is the safety of students. Factors relevant to safety include icy roads, reduced visibility, drifting snow, chill factor, flooding, high wind and mechanical and health hazards at the school.
In the event that school is closed or there is a delayed opening because of an emergency, the following radio and TV stations will broadcast the announcement no later than 7:00 AM:

In the event of a one-hour (or two-hour) delayed school opening, buses will arrive at stops one hour (or two hours) later and school will begin one hour (or two hours) later than usual.
PLEASE DO NOT try to call your child's school or the bus garage to determine whether or not schools are closed or on a delayed schedule. Instead, tune in to one of the above-listed television or radio stations for up-to-date information.
