Careers on wheels day presenation

SPENCER — Spencer-Van Etten Elementary School hosted its first Careers on Wheels event, providing students with an opportunity to explore careers through hands-on experiences with local professionals and their vehicles.

Throughout the event, students visited stations and learned about a variety of career fields from community partners. Participants included the Town of Van Etten Highway Department, Town of Spencer Highway Department, Community Fire & Rescue Department of Van Etten, Hot Dragz Food Truck, Sgt. Haines and K-9 Luna of the Cornell Police Department, and Spencer-Van Etten graduate Megan Mott-Wood and her Mobile Grooming Salon.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions, interact with equipment and vehicles, and learn about the responsibilities and skills associated with each profession. Careers represented included transportation, public works, emergency services, law enforcement, small business ownership and animal care.

The event was designed to help students make connections between classroom learning and future career opportunities while providing exposure to a range of professions within the local community.

Spencer-Van Etten Central School District thanks all of the community partners who participated and helped make the event possible.
