Spencer-Van Etten High School senior Lauren Gillette has earned a spot in the 2026 NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship after a strong postseason performance.
Gillette began her championship run at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC) Championship, where she competed against 53 golfers representing 10 schools. She secured a place in the Section IV Championship by shooting an 89 at Hillendale Country Club, finishing fourth overall.
At the Section IV Championship at Soaring Eagles Country Club, Gillette needed to place among the top nine golfers to qualify for the state tournament. She delivered a score of 93, finishing sixth and earning a return trip to the state championship.
Gillette previously qualified for the NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship as a freshman in 2023. After narrowly missing qualification the past two seasons, she earned her way back to the state stage with a strong performance this year.
The NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship will take place June 7-8 at Wild Wood Country Club in Rush, New York.
