SCHOOL MESSENGER

Spencer-Van Etten Central School District uses an efficient student absence reporting system called SchoolMessenger (SafeArrival). This system makes it easy for you to report your child's absence, reduces the time it takes to verify student attendance and allows staff to respond to unexplained student absences more efficiently.

SchoolMessenger (SafeArrival) allows you to report your child's absence quickly and conveniently in one of three ways:

1

Website

https://go.schoolmessenger.com

Sign up for a SchoolMessenger Account which allows you to report student absences.

2

Mobile App

SchoolMessenger blue App

Download the Apple or Android app to report absences.

3

Toll-free Phone Line

1-844-553-3311

Call the automated interactive telephone system, using this toll free number, to report absences.

All absence reporting should go through the SchoolMessenger website, app or toll-free number. Please do not contact the school directly to report an absence.

All methods are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, absences may be reported ahead of time, e.g. Doctor or dentist appointment etc.

In addition, we are using the SchoolMessenger automated notification system already used by our schools, to contact parents whose child is absent and the absence was not reported in advance. SchoolMessenger contacts parents at multiple contact numbers until one of the designated contacts is reached. If the system is unable to reach a designated contact within 30 minutes, office staff will follow up. If you report your child absent in advance using the SchoolMessenger website, app or toll-free number, you will not receive these calls.

The benefit of using the SchoolMessenger website is that you may report your child’s absences, update your contact phone numbers and email addresses should they change, as well as review messages sent through our SchoolMessenger system.
