The Spencer-Van Etten and Spencer-Van Etten/Candor (SVEC) varsity teams had an incredible fall sports season, with every varsity team qualifying for the playoffs. Here’s a recap of their achievements:
Girls Varsity Soccer
The girls varsity soccer team rebounded from consecutive losing seasons to secure a postseason spot as the #8 seed. While they fell to the top-seeded Waverly in the sectional quarterfinals, the team showcased remarkable improvement throughout the season.

Boys Varsity Soccer
The boys varsity soccer team continued their postseason streak with a strong showing this year. After winning the IAC tiebreaker against Elmira Notre Dame, the team earned the #5 seed in sectionals. They defeated Susquehanna Valley in an overtime thriller before falling in the semifinals to eventual Section IV champion Chenango Forks.

Girls Varsity Field Hockey
Field hockey achieved a milestone by winning their division for the first time in nearly 20 years! Despite a roster of just 11 players all season, the team demonstrated extraordinary resilience and teamwork. They secured a sectional home victory before falling to eventual champion Whitney Point.

Varsity Cheerleading
The varsity cheerleading team made history by participating in their first competitions, taking home first place in their division at their second event. They capped off their season by supporting the SVEC football team in the Section IV Class D semi-finals.
Varsity Football
SVEC varsity football finished the season with a winning record, highlighted by a three-game win streak to close the regular season. They earned a playoff spot and put up a strong fight in the semi-finals against Tioga.

Season Highlight: Winning the Shovel Game against Schuyler, 47-21
Cross Country (XC)
The SVE cross country team delivered another solid season, consistently placing in the top five at every event. Eddie Rixford and Maddy Ellison led the team, with Eddie narrowly missing qualification for the state finals.
Varsity Volleyball
SVE varsity volleyball had an impressive season, finishing 12-3 overall and earning the title of Co-Division Champions. The team advanced to the IAC championship and made a strong sectional run, ultimately competing in pool play at Tioga.

JV Volleyball
The SVE JV volleyball team capped off their stellar season by becoming the IAC Small School Champions! They finished 11-2, defeating Candor in the championship match.
