Students Coding

Students in one of Spencer-Van Etten’s UPK4 classrooms were introduced to the basics of coding during a hands-on enrichment activity held this morning.

Using KUBO Robots, students learned how directional coding tiles work together to create paths for their robots to follow. By sequencing tiles and testing different routes, students practiced early problem-solving skills while developing an understanding of direction, sequencing, and cause and effect.

The activity also emphasized collaboration, as students worked alongside their classmates to plan paths, troubleshoot challenges, and celebrate successful runs. Teachers noted strong engagement throughout the lesson, with students demonstrating teamwork, communication, and enthusiasm for learning.

This enrichment opportunity supports early STEM exposure and helps build foundational skills in a fun, age-appropriate way, reinforcing Spencer-Van Etten’s commitment to innovative and engaging learning experiences for even its youngest learners.
