The Spencer-Van Etten Central School District is providing an update regarding the safety concern reported at the middle school on Feb. 25.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., administration was informed of concerning student communications suggesting a potential threat. The district immediately initiated an investigation and contacted local law enforcement, including the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office. The matter was addressed promptly and thoroughly.

Following a joint investigation conducted by district administration and the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that the situation involved two middle school students. The situation has been contained, and there is currently no ongoing threat to the school community.

The students involved have been addressed in accordance with the district’s Code of Conduct. Appropriate disciplinary action is being taken. Law enforcement will determine whether any additional legal action is warranted.

Because this situation involves minors, the district cannot release student names or further identifying details.
