The Spencer-Van Etten Central School District is providing additional information related to the Feb. 25 middle school investigation.
During the continued review of student communications, the district confirmed that a sibling of one of the involved students was connected to the communications. That individual does not attend Spencer-Van Etten campuses and is enrolled in a BOCES program. Law enforcement is aware of that involvement and is handling that portion of the matter.
The situation has been addressed, and there is currently no ongoing safety concern at the middle school.
This remains an active investigation. The district continues to work closely with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office and is closely monitoring school activity to ensure the continued safety of students and staff.
Because this matter involves minors, additional details cannot be released. If new verified information becomes available, the district will provide further updates as appropriate.
School is operating as normal today. Counselors and support staff are available for any students who would like to speak with someone.
Student and staff safety remains the district’s highest priority.
