Students from the Spencer-Van Etten Middle School Self-Care Advisory group recently visited the GST BOCES Bush Campus to learn more about the cosmetology program and experience a hands-on clinic day.
The trip, led by advisers Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Decker, provided students with an opportunity to explore one of the many career and technical education programs offered through BOCES while also focusing on the importance of personal wellness and self-care.
During the visit, students participated in the cosmetology program’s “Clinic Day,” where BOCES students practice their skills by providing services to guests. Middle school students were treated to a spa day experience while learning about the techniques and training involved in the cosmetology field.
The visit allowed students to see the program in action and gain insight into potential career pathways available through BOCES programs.
School officials said experiences like this help students explore different interests while connecting classroom learning with real-world opportunities and career exploration.
