SVE Students Trip

Spencer-Van Etten Central School District juniors explored future opportunities during a Career Field Trip Day on Thursday, April 16.

All eleventh grade students selected from three planned experiences designed to introduce them to postsecondary education and career options. Two groups visited Alfred University and Keuka College. During those visits, students received admissions presentations, learned about academic programs and campus life, toured the campuses, and had lunch in the dining halls.

A third group began the day with a business tour of Stateline Auto, where students learned about the company’s operations and the variety of careers available within the automotive industry.

Students then traveled to the GST BOCES Try Trades Day event, where they met local employers and union representatives while participating in hands-on activities. Experiences included operating heavy equipment, building birdhouses and completing welding simulations.

The trip provided students with valuable exposure to both college pathways and skilled trades careers as they continue planning for life after graduation.
