S-VE FFA Trip

Members of the Spencer-Van Etten FFA recently attended the 2026 New York FFA State Convention, where students participated in leadership development activities, educational sessions, networking opportunities and celebrations recognizing achievements from chapters across the state.

Throughout the convention experience, students represented Spencer-Van Etten with pride while building leadership skills, strengthening connections within the agricultural education community and creating lasting memories with fellow chapter members. Students also had the opportunity to visit Niagara Falls during the trip.

A highlight of the convention came when Olyvia Swimelar received the Empire FFA State Degree, becoming the first member in chapter history to earn the prestigious accomplishment. The Empire State Degree is one of the highest honors awarded at the state level and recognizes FFA members for their dedication, leadership and achievements in agricultural education.

“Our students represented Spencer-Van Etten exceptionally well throughout the convention experience,” Superintendent Patrick Patterson said. “This opportunity allowed them to grow as leaders, connect with students from across New York state and celebrate the accomplishments of agricultural education programs. We are especially proud of Olyvia Swimelar for earning the Empire State Degree and making chapter history.”

District officials said the convention provided students with valuable experiences that reinforced leadership, teamwork and personal growth while highlighting the opportunities available through agricultural education and FFA programs.
