Spencer-Van Etten Central School District Superintendent Patrick Patterson said the district’s proposed 2026–27 budget reflects a continued commitment to students, staff and the broader school community.

In a message to the community included in the district’s budget newsletter, Patterson emphasized the role of staff and community members in supporting student success.

“Spencer-Van Etten is a special place because of the people who make up this community,” Patterson said. “Each day, our staff works to create safe, welcoming schools where students are challenged, supported and encouraged to grow.”

The proposed budget is built around the district’s Blueprint for Excellence strategic plan, focusing on providing meaningful student opportunities, maintaining strong daily operations and supporting services that families rely on.

Patterson also highlighted the district’s focus on financial responsibility, noting that the spending plan was developed through careful planning and efficient use of resources while remaining within the allowable tax levy limit.

“We are equally committed to financial responsibility,” Patterson said. “Through careful planning, operational efficiencies and thoughtful use of resources, we are proud to present a budget that remains within the allowable tax levy limit and continues to put students first.”

The proposal supports a range of district priorities, including strengthening classroom instruction, expanding student opportunities, supporting mental health and wellness services and maintaining safe, efficient school operations.

Patterson also encouraged community members to remain engaged in the budget process and participate in the upcoming vote.

“Your partnership plays an important role in helping Spencer-Van Etten remain a strong and connected school community,” he said. “Please remember to vote on Tuesday, May 19.”
